FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Do This in Memory
Each year the children of 2nd Class in our primary Schools receive First Holy Communion. In addition to their School preparation with the Alive-O Program our parish runs the Parish based ‘Do This in Memory Programme’.
This excellent programme was devised in the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin and involves the Parish, the parents and the Children. Based around 10 special liturgies the program seeks to engage the children at their own level. Each child accompanied by Parent(s) or Guardians is invited to attend special Sunday Masses during the year. At the first Do This in Memory Mass Parents/Guardians are invited to enrol their children in the programme of preparation which will lead to their children receiving the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion.
We have a group of volunteer parents who form an ad hoc committee to oversee the smooth running of the program.
