At a recent meeting of our 75th Anniversary Committee it was agreed that the Week of April 8th -15th would be the main focus of celebration. The Parish was founded on 9th April 1943. Among the many events proposed, the following were agreed:
Weekend of 8th April: OPENING JUBILEE MASS (time to be confirmed)
Monday 9th April: 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the Parish. Evening Jubilee Mass of rededication of the Church and recommissioning of Ministers. Recognition of outstanding service to the Parish. Refreshments in Pastoral Space.
Tuesday 10th, Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th: Triduum of Masses offered in thanksgiving with a guest Preacher, with participation of our Schools.
Saturday 14th April: 6.30pm CLOSING JUBILEE MASS followed by a
Supper Dance in Our Lady’s Hall. We hope that during this week many of our present and past Parishioners and all Parish Groups will participate. We’d love to hear particularly from those who were involved in the early years of the Parish so that we can record their memories. If you would like to nominate anybody you feel should be recognised publicly for significant service to the Parish please notify their name and contact details to the Parish Office stating clearly why you believe they should be honoured also identifying yourself and your relationship to the nominee. Other Jubilee Year Events will be:
April 21st Parish Pilgrimage to Knock with the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage accompanied by Fr.Dave.
April 22 - 27: Parish Pilgrim age to Assisi, Rome and Gennazanno, Shrine of Our Lady of Good Counsel, accompanied by Canon John.
Friday 18th May Jubilee Concert in the Church organised by Irene Winters and the Parish Choir.
Other proposals for marking the Jubilee are: Family Fun Day with the Residents Associations, Souvenir Fridge Magnet,, New Signage for the Church, Painting of outer doors and resurfacing of Church grounds, New Sound System,World Day of the Family events, Special edition Newsletter, Choir CD ,Plant a Tree, Special Anniversary Christmas Card, Mass Card and Postcard, Prayer Book, Memories Card, Calendar, Photobook or Album of Drimnagh, video of Inside of Church, Parish Directory.
